So is it because I’m cute?
it must be something about being so cute makes people all want to push me to do things that I’m really unsure about doing. This week has just been wierd.
First of all, I ended up joining the Magestorm guild, Strike Force (SF). This is odd because I’m not currently playing Magestorm, and it gets stranger when you remember that I have to play one handed. It’s kind of nice that someone thinks I’m good enough to join even with that minor snag, especially as I’ve been turned down by another guild because that same snag meant I wasn’t good enough for them.
I have to admit, the way that I was pushed into applying was sneaky as hell … “Test my new application form out for me?” … Yeah right. Get a working site, Dan
I’m also being pressed to actually write up my notes about wheelchair self-defence/martial arts techniques and post them to the Ilyokwan TKD Forums. This is actually pretty scary, because whatever I post is going to be scrutinised by a bunch of people who actually do martial arts full time.
Now remember that all of these ideas I have for things you can do in a wheelchair are currently just that - ideas. They’ve never been tested in any situation, training or the real world … well, OK, one move has been field tested, but only once, and then against a german shepherd dog. That’s no reason to think that they’re actually any good, and certainly no basis to consider them good enough to expose to real fighters.
So I have someone I like and respect pushing on me to get off my ass and risk ridicule and embarassment, a bunch of ideas that I think could be made viable if they were fine tuned and polished by professionals, and a chance to do both things. The choice I have to make is whether I can safely risk the first if the end result is the chance someone can take my ideas and make them work.
I hate decision making
It’s cute to see in the news that one of the original people inside the Dalek costumes wants to participate in the new Dr Who series as … a Dalek. Given the mess the BBC left Dr Who in when they killed it off, they really need to bring in people who remember why the old series lasted so long (and forced the BBC to bring it back to boot).
Unfortunately, the BBC has yet to realize that they can both fulfil their quota of “disabled” people and maintain the rolling gait of the Daleks if they just use wheelies!
