A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Gini Koch during a #scifichat Twitter conversation.
It seems I’m not the only one who writes about aliens getting it on with humans – unfortunately, her visions of aliens are all handsome hunks of human looking beings, whereas I, as you all have come to know, much rather prefer to focus on the beautiful sensuality of the alien forms first designed by HR Giger. Indeed, as discussion grew during the lead-up to the release of her latest novel, “Alien Tango” (DAW, 2010), she described these kind, wonderful creatures as “fugly”!
Fugly??
Over time, I’ve tried so hard to get Gini to come around to understanding the beauty of tails, tentacles, fangs, and claws, but alas, she’s stuck to her guns.
So, as a christmas present to her, and to further an ongoing campaign to mainstream those misunderstood and maligned poor souls that have sprung from the mind of HR Giger and Dan O’Bannon, I present this giftart for Gini Koch – remember, aliens have feelings too!

LOL, I love it! Great piece! Not sure I'm convinced yet that fugly monsters love us, but have no fear…I know YOU love THEM. And isn't that the first step?
Not all fugly monsters love us – there's The Thing, and The Osmonds, and the critters from Cloverfield and that new movie whose name I forget off the top of my head, and killer alligators.
But you can always rely on some aliens to come save the day. They just need some TLC
Glad you liked it – did I ever mention I have a warped sense of humor?
I think if you are part of the hive those fugly monsters will love you, they will protect you and you will feel their love through a hive link
Outside the hive, you're just food…or a means to procreate
Awe. Some. Surely he's nice and gentle in the bedroom, yeah?
He gives back rubs to die for … so I'm told
