Regular visitors to my blog might recall one I made three years ago regarding the Military Covenant in the UK, and how it was being broken on a regular basis by the powers that be and ignored by the majority of the general public.

Yesterday, BBC News Online ran an article detailing how the current Conservative/Liberal Democrat government was planning on making the Covenant part of British law.

Disclosure: I’m one of the founder members of DC ParaTransit Info, which has monitored and reported on MetroAccess and related accessible transportation issues in the DC Metro Area for many years.

The Washington Post has reported on who it says the reorganization affects. and it won’t affect MetroAccess.  Yay! (Heads-up courtesy of the Greater Greater Washington blog)

It’s all over the news this evening.  After Senator Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) tore into Metro this past week over safety concerns, DC Council Member and Metro board Chairman Jim Graham stepped up and announced he was working with General Manager John B. Catoe Jr. to, as Councilman Graham stated, “change Metro, and it’s going to happen very rapidly”.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure if this is a “What the Frak??” post, or simply a humorous one – which do you think it comes under?

On tonight’s news, there was a segment about a firearm found inside the D.C. Jail.

It was about 30 seconds into the segment when I cracked up totally in uncontrollable laughter as our local newsdrone Derek McGinty, with a perfectly straight face, mentioned that the firearm was related to an incident in the D.C. Jail from 2003.

Why was this funny?  I’m glad you asked me!

So Tropical Storm Hanna is busy making its way up the coast towards us – if the predicted track is anything to go by, it’ll be a few miles to the east of us in about four hours time.

DC, as usual, is losing its mind in panic mode. We’ve already seen the panic buying at the local grocery store. Like people didn’t have a clue this might be coming while Gustav was still ambling around the Gulf Coast!

The DC area is really weird when it comes to inclement weather conditions – especially the local drivers. I call it “Dinosaur Syndrome”.

Bad Behavior has blocked 368 access attempts in the last 7 days.
